McCain speech mentions Indian Tribes

Attempting to wrest the mantle of “change” from Barack Obama, last night Senator John McCain told the nation that he was the true reformer and that voters should send him to the White House instead of Obama.  McCain accepted the Republican nomination for President in St. Paul during which he reminded America that “I’ve fought lobbyists who stole from Indian tribes” while serving as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs from 2005-2006.  Indeed, on the same day that McCain delivered his acceptance speech, a federal judge sentenced Jack Abramoff to four years in prison.

  1. McCain can mention “indian” all he wants. It still does not mean he and his republican base believe and support tribal issues. The republicans are wolves in sheep clothing. Their ultimate tribal policy is assimilation. Kill the indian and save the soul.
